Almost Nearly Somebody

My Debut Album

Really ? Debut ?

Technically, I suppose. But being on the backside of my life it seems more like trying to justify what I’ve been doing for the last 40 years.

I don’t know if I succeeded, but I gave it a fair shot. “Wait a second !” you might think, “a fair shot ? Why should I even listen ?” And you’d have me dead to rights. The only thing I can tell you is I don’t know if they are my best songs, but they were in some kind of process. Some stage of the production process. As the chance to actually take the next step became a near reality, I realized these might not be great songs but if I don’t move now I’ll end up with nothing, so use what ya got.

What my “record” is, is an amalgam of songs from as far back as 1982 and as recent as 2011. It spans a lot of years. Although  I didn’t use any completed tracks from the past, I did used the original recordings as templates and in a few cases we retained an individual instrument that was recorded oh so many years ago just because it fit so well that when it was gone, it was missed. An example of that would be the harmonica in “Back To What Used To Be” which was originally recorded in 1987. All of the other instruments and vocal on  that song were added individually during a period between 2010 and 2012.
